The renowned Karura Forest is right next to the UNON compound. It is a unique public facility teeming with local wildlife such as red duikers, bushbucks, squirrels, white-tailed mongoose, Sykes monkeys and Colobus monkeys, as well as colourful butterflies and bird species such as crowned cranes, Egyptian geese, crested eagles, green pigeons and hoopoes. The well-demarcated nature trails, jogging lanes and cycling paths make the forest a perfect recreation spot.
