To achieve ever-increasing mandates with shrinking budgets – the rallying call of doing more with less – we need to ensure that the United Nations Office at Nairobi, as the only United Nations headquarters in the global South, is nimble and continues to harness the synergies needed to achieve economies of scale.
I am pleased to note that, as one of the Divisions of UNON, the Division of Conference Services (DCS) has continued to fulfill its mandate to service all aspects of both calendar and non-calendar meetings. DCS has a good brand that clients are happy with and they have clearly demonstrated that the service delivered provides value for money. This has ensured that clients return to DCS time and again to fulfill their conference service needs.
In order to expand the client base and increase the use of capacity at the conference centre and the print shop, UNON has asked Member States to consider proposals aimed at addressing the deteriorating conditions and the limited capacity of the conference facility at the United Nations Office at Nairobi.
